The No. 27 recruit in the nation and No. 1 recruit in the state of Missouri has committed to Illinois.

Isaiah Williams out of Trinity Catholic High School in St. Louis announced Friday on his personal twitter account his intention to join the Illini as a member of the 2019 class.

Williams is a five-star dual-threat quarterback who had offers from Alabama, Michigan, Ohio State and Oklahoma. The five-foot-ten recruit will be the highest ranked player to join the program since Arrelious Benn and Martez Wilson in 2006.

In his junior season with the Titans, Williams played in eight games where he threw for 1,898 yards and 29 touchdowns. He also led the team in rushing with 383 yards on 42 carries with two touchdowns.

The historic commitment comes only a week after Illinois landed four-star athlete Marquez Beason out of Texas.

Williams, along with many of his teammates, has been heavily recruited by his former Trinity Catholic head coach, and now current Illinois tight ends coach, Cory Patterson.
