Illinois won’t have to travel very far for the Big Ten Tournament in 2020.

The Illini’s home diamond, Eichelberger Field, is set to host the Big Ten Tournament for the first time in program history this spring, Illinois’ Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced Tuesday.

“We are excited to have the honor of hosting the Big Ten Tournament this year,” said head softball coach Tyra Perry, in the DIA announcement. “Our event staff has been working very hard to provide a top-notch championship environment for our student-athletes and fans. The Big Ten Tournament has always proven to be a spectacular event where our student-athletes can showcase their talent and represent their university with pride.”

The conference finale will run May 7-9 and feature the top-12 teams in the Big Ten. The single-elimination tournament kicks off with four first round games on Thursday followed by four quarterfinal match ups Friday. Two semifinal contest and the championship game will cap the tournament on Saturday.
