Illinois jumps to No. 21 in latest Associated Press top-25 poll

The Illinois men’s basketball program (13-7, 21-10) joins five other Big Ten teams in the latest Associated Press top-25 poll released Monday, rising two places to the No. 21 spot. Illinois topped Iowa at the State Farm Center Sunday night, 78-76 and earned a No. 4 seed and a double-round bye in the Big Ten Tournament.

Michigan State leads the league in the latest batch of rankings at No. 9 following a three-way tie for the top spot in the Big Ten with No. 12 Maryland and No. 18 Wisconsin. All three programs finished regular-season conference play with records of 14-6. Illinois yields the second-best record in the Big Ten at 13-7.

Ohio State and Iowa round out the Big Ten’s top-25 presence at No. 19 and No. 25, respectively.
