Former Illinois linebacker Khalan Tolson signs with Carolina Panthers as undrafted free agent

Following the three-day NFL draft, the Carolina Panthers have agreed to sign Khalan Tolson to the team.

The Florida-native arrived at Illinois and made immediate contributions to the Illinois special teams, playing in all 12 games as a freshman.

In his sophomore season, Tolson played in 11 games, starting four at linebacker. Tolson recorded 38 tackles on the year and helped the Illini in their comeback win against Michigan State in 2019 with nine tackles in his first career start.

His junior season saw him start six games at linebacker before missing final two games to injury.

In his final year at Illinois, he started eight games, playing in all 12. Tolson recorded 48 tackles on the year, proving a consistent contributor to the team.

The Carolina Panthers will be looking to take the next steps in head coach Matt Rhule’s second year at the helm, Tolson will have to prove himself to the coaching staff on the field come training camp.
