The Illini added a 16th commitment to their quickly growing recruiting class for 2024, with a second tight end heading to Champaign in the near future.
Tanner Hollinger, a Nebraska native, announced his decision on July 5 via Twitter. The 6-foot-5 tight end hails from Stromsburg and is a senior at Cross County.
According to 247Sports, Hollinger is the No. 97 ranked tight end in the nation, as well as the No. 16 player in his home state.
Hollinger had made his official visit to Champaign on June 23, and took his time before committing to the Illini. Heavily recruited by Robby Discher, Illinois’ rookie tight ends coach, Hollinger had multiple FBS offers from military schools and other smaller programs.
Hollinger only recorded 13 catches as a junior, with 141 yards as well, however, three of those were for touchdowns.
