Forward Cearah Parchment verbally committed to Illinois on Saturday, Oct. 12, she announced via On3. The four-star out of Fort Erie, Ontario, is Illinois’ third 2025 addition, following forward Erica Finney and point guard Destiny Jackson.
The 6-foot-2 forward is the No. 39 recruit, according to ESPN HoopGurlz, and pledges to make a big impact for the Illini. Her other top schools were Maryland, Michigan and Minnesota, but women’s basketball head coach Shauna Green saw the potential in Parchment.
“I just really think that they’re building something really special there,” Parchment told On3. “They’re going to have a lot of seniors graduating this year, so there’s gonna be a lot of chances to build a winning program.”
Four of the five top rebounders from the Illini last season are graduating this spring. Adding her rebounding ability in 2025 will bolster the lineup, especially since she likes to play at a fast pace, similar to how Illinois plays.
Parchment and Finney will join the Illini next season, solidifying recruitment at the forward position. With several seniors graduating this spring, Green has recruited some solid high school talent for 2025 to continue building up the program.
