It’s officially the offseason for college football, over a month since Illinois’ last game. The good news continues, as head coach Bret Bielema and his staff added another recruit, cornerback Victor Singleton, on Saturday evening.
The talented four-star is rated No. 46 player in the class of 2026 and No. 3 overall corner in the country per 247Sports. Singleton’s commitment was announced via X.
Illinois battled Michigan, Texas A&M and Ohio State for the young corner, and the latter even had a crystal ball on multiple websites. Eventually, Illinois enticed Singleton following an impressive crop of defensive backs coming through Champaign in recent years.
Singleton isn’t huge, but defensive backs coach Corey Parker loved what he saw and secured him on Saturday. The Ohio native stands 6-foot tall and 160 pounds, and his high school tape shows an impressive ability to locate the football.
Whether it’s interceptions or pass deflections, Singleton is all over the field. The ninth highest-rated recruit in Illinois program history brings Illinois to No. 17 in the 2026 247Sports recruiting rankings, and Bielema’s staff likely isn’t done yet.
