Illinois football has added two three-star prospects from Florida to their 2025 recruiting class – defensive back Robert Jones III from Vero Beach High School and running back Cedric Wyche from St. Thomas Aquinas High School. Both three-star recruits announced their commitment to Illinois in recent weeks, with Jones announcing his just a few days ago.
Robert Jones III
Robert Jones III is a 6-foot, 165-pound defensive back, specifically a cornerback for his high school team’s defense. Jones is ranked the 97th cornerback in his class and the 150th overall prospect in the state of Florida, according to 247Sports.
Jones chose Illinois over offers from schools such as UCF, which is in his hometown, as well as USF and Louisville. Additionally, Jones was previously committed to North Carolina State, but he decommitted prior to an official visit to Illinois last weekend. In a report published by 247Sports, he was asked about his commitment to Illinois, to which he replied, “They just felt like home.”
