Illinois football has added a new wide receiver to its 2026 class with Kenyon Alston, marking the team’s fifth commitment to that class. The commitment was announced Thursday afternoon on Instagram.
The Orlando native is coming into the program as a three-star recruit and is the 77th-best player in Florida, according to 247sports. Illinois beat out Appalachian State, Florida State, Baylor and Arkansas to get Alston.
During his junior season, Alston recorded 970 receiving yards with 14 touchdowns. This commit is one in a long line of Florida commits to the program, as the team currently has 17 players from the Sunshine State.
The 6-foot-2 wide receiver is joining a wide receiver group with loads of talent. The Illini have up-and-coming stars sophomore wide receiver Malik Elzy, redshirt freshman Collin Dixon and Alston working under offensive coordinator Barry Lunney Jr. and wide receivers coach Justin Stepp. Alston weighs 185 pounds and can add more depth to an already large 2026 receiver group.
