After signing senior receiver Jayshon Platt earlier this week, the Illini reportedly added more help at the position in the form of three-star redshirt senior Ty Robinson, according to 247Sports’ Jeremy Werner.
The receiver spent the past three seasons at Ball State, where he played alongside former Illini receiver Justin Bowick in 2024.
A series of injuries hampered Robinson’s time with the Cardinals. He appeared in just 15 games, hauling in 22 receptions for 293 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Robinson spent the previous two years at Colorado, where he picked up 95 yards on nine receptions in 23 games.
Robinson joins Platt and holdovers sophomore wide reciever Collin Dixon and junior wide reciever Hudson Clement as targets for new senior quarterback Katin Houser this season. Illinois will be without receivers Hank Beatty, Ashton Hollins and Bowick this fall, and could still be looking to add to its receiver room.
The Illini hosted three-star UTRGV receiver Tony Diaz for an official visit earlier this week and are one of several programs to have offered the redshirt freshman.
