For the second day in a row, the Illini have added to their receiver room. The team reportedly signed three-star senior receiver Alex Perry early Thursday, according to CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz.
Perry earned First Team All-CUSA honors this season at FIU, posting 56 receptions for 840 yards and nine touchdowns.
The receiver ended the season strong, hauling in seven of his touchdowns across the year’s final six games. He posted back-to-back 100-yard games in November, picking up 109 yards in FIU’s win over Jacksonville State and 140 the next week in a win over Sam Houston State.
Perry began his career at Hawaii, where he recorded 491 yards on 48 catches across three seasons.
The Illini have now added a trio of receivers this portal cycle in Perry, redshirt senior Ty Robinson and senior Jayshon Platt. After losing Hank Beatty, Ashton Hollins and Justin Bowick, who is reportedly set to join Oklahoma State, Illinois needed some new weapons for incoming senior quarterback Katin Houser.
