Illinois reportedly made its second addition to its 2027 class on Wednesday, with four-star defensive back Justin Johnson committing to the program, according to 247Sports’ Jeremy Werner.
The Evanston Township High School defensive back also competes in track and boasts blazing speed. He holds a 10.64-second 100-meter time and a 21.47-second 200-meter time.
Johnson chose Illinois over several other Big Ten programs, including Iowa, Purdue, Northwestern, Washington and Wisconsin, among others. He also received offers from Iowa State, Stanford and Louisville. He joins four-star quarterback Kamden Lopati in Illinois’ 2027 class.
Illinois’ defensive secondary will look very different by the time Johnson arrives on campus, with juniors Matthew Bailey and Jaheim Clarke and senior Xavier Scott all set to graduate before the 2027 season.
