Former four-star recruit Tre White committed to the University of Illinois via the transfer portal according to On3.
The 6-foot-7 rising junior spent the 2023-24 season at University of Louisville before deciding to transfer. He averaged 12.3 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.3 assists for the Cardinals and started 26 of 29 games played.
White had a standout performance on Jan. 30 against Clemson when he dropped 29 points and snagged 14 rebounds. Before playing at Louisville, he spent his freshman season at the University of Southern California.
Despite his underwhelming three-point shooting average (29.9%), White will give Brad Underwood another physical and versatile wing who can fill up the stat sheet in every way possible. White is Illinois’ second acquisition via the transfer portal since ending their 2023-24 season.
