Illinois announced on Sunday that it has signed sophomore guard Maddie Webber, a transfer from Villanova. Webber is the second guard the Illini have added through the transfer portal this weekend.
“I chose Illinois because I believe it is a place that has everything I need to take my game to the next level!” Webber said. “The program has the will, people, resources, and facilities that make it truly special.”
The 5-foot-11 guard was a Second Team All-Big East selection this season. She averaged 13.3 points per game, 2.9 rebounds and 2.2 assists. Webber can score from anywhere on the court and play multiple positions.
Webber also brings a lot of experience, immediately becoming one of the oldest players on the team. The addition should help all the rising sophomores and incoming freshmen progress their games even further.
Head coach Shauna Green commented on the addition: “She has length, versatility, and the ability to score at all three levels,” Green said. “Maddie brings college experience to us and is someone who can play multiple positions.”
