On Saturday afternoon, Illinois (6-2, 0-2) fell to Purdue (5-0, 2-0) in a Big Ten conference match-up, 194-101. However, junior Matilda Garcia pulled through with a record-breaking performance.
Garcia took silver in the three-meter dive with the second-best score in program history and a new personal best of 325.95. She took more hardware home with her, collecting bronze in the one-meter dive with a 271.65.
Junior Elleka Boeres also collected a bronze, scoring a 262.05 in the three-meter dive.
Senior Sara Jass brought home gold in the 200 breaststroke (2:13.05) and the 200 IM (2:00.70). Illinois dominated the 200 IM event; following behind Jass was sophomore Chloe Diner (2:00.98) in second place and senior Adelaide Reaser (2:07.72) in third.
Sophomore Eva Allan swam a new personal best in the 50 freestyle, clocking in at 23.80.

Illinois dives back in the water next weekend at home in the ARC pool on Jan. 16. Their conference slate continues in a three-way matchup against Nebraska (5-1, 0-0) and Iowa (1-3, 0-0).
