Illinois (8-10 overall, 3-5 conference) looks to keep its winning ways going this week. The Illini start a two-game road series Friday against the Maryland Terrapins (13-7 overall, 3-5 conference) at 6 p.m.
Illinois is coming off a home win against Rutgers, winning in four sets. Senior outside hitter Raina Terry has had back-to-back games with 20-plus kills. Terry also had four aces in the game.
Terry put up 24 kills and 55 attacks against Rutgers. Fifth-year outside hitter Jessica Nunge also did her part against the Scarlet Knights, putting up 12 kills and 28 attacks. These 12 kills marked a season-high for Nunge, who also had two aces on the court.
Terry ranks third nationally in attacks per set, averaging 13.23 attacks per set. The senior also moved up in the rankings for kills per set, moving from seventh in the country to sixth, now averaging 4.84 kills per set.
Redshirt sophomore setter Brooke Mosher had another double-double in the match, posting 43 assists and 11 digs. This is the sixth time this season Mosher has had 40-plus assists in a game.

The Terrapins are heading back home after a straight-set loss against Wisconsin. Freshman middle blocker Eva Rohrbach led the Terrapins in kills with five on the match.
Sophomore outside hitter Laila Ivey leads Maryland in kills with 159 on the year. Ivey added four more kills on top of her 159 in the loss to Wisconsin.
Maryland comes into the game on a three-game losing streak. Maryland has lost to Indiana, Northwestern and most recently No. 1 Wisconsin. The Terrapins only won one set in these three games, taking one against Northwestern.
Maryland is also third in the Big Ten and No. 16 nationally in blocks. The Terrapins are averaging 2.69 blocks per set with a total of 193.5 blocks in the year.
The Illini have dominated the all-time series against the Terrapins, going 13-0 against them since they joined the Big Ten. Additionally, the program has only given up six total sets in these series.
The last time these two teams faced each other, Illinois won in straight sets. Head coach Chris Tamas, who has never lost a set against the Terrapins in College Park, has a 9-0 record versus Maryland during his tenure at Illinois.
