Iowa defeats No. 18 Illinois 10-6
October 12, 2007
Illinois fell 10-6 to Iowa Saturday afternoon in Iowa City.
The Hawkeyes limited the Illini rushing to 153 yards and dominated in time of possession. Iowa converted 10 of 17 third downs and its offense dominates the time of possession.
Head coach Ron Zook substituted quarterback Eddie McGee in the fourth quarter, hoping the red shirt freshman could close out another victory. Instead Iowa intercepted McGee’s throw on the Hawkeye goal line to stop the desperation drive and seal the victory.
The loss snapped the Illini’s five game winning streak and dropped the Orange and Blue to 5-2 overall.
