There are so many words you can use to describe a team, but none of these words come even close to an award.  Awards give players the tangible reward for all their hard work while increasing self-esteem.

Three Illini men’s golf members were named Big Ten Preseason Honorees, with seniors Adrien Dumont de Chassart and Tommy Kuhl and junior Jerry Ji all named.

Each one of these upperclassmen have helped Illinois succeed during their time in Champaign-Urbana, including a Big Ten title in each season. The reigning Big Ten Co-Golfer of the Year and Second-Team All-American, Dumont de Chassart heads into another start to the year with high expectations. The Belgium native had seven top-10 finishes last season, the joint most on the team.

Senior Tommy Kuhl starts his preseason with all eyes on him after he earned three top-10 finishes, including a career-best joint-third place finish at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate. Not to mention, Kuhl stole a top-10 finish at the Big Ten Championship. With both seniors giving 110% every golf tournament, the future of Illini golf should be in good hands.

Speaking of good hands, the future is bright for junior Jerry Ji, who was recognized with a All-Big Ten First-Team nod this year. Ji turned heads last year with his first victory at the  Louisiana Classics in March of last year.
