When I see Jerrance wearing his sweatsuit at practice, going man-to-man against the Illini backcourt before they start doing drills, I can’t help but think the Illini pegged the right guy for the assistant coaching job. Howard’s been on numerous recruiting trips already, one of his top priorities, but when he’s around, there’s no question he’s the most energetic force in the gym.

Since his hire, the Illini have received verbal commitments from guards Joseph Bertrand, D.J. Richardson and Brandon Paul. My my take on the matter is simple: Howard’s the man, and he’s getting it done.
