Professors Matti Bunzl and Bruce Rosenstock, director and associate professor of the Program in Jewish Culture and Society and organizers of the Israel Studies Project, responded to the criticism that the Israel Studies Project fails to take account of the Palestinian perspective by saying that they are unaware of the existence of the student group Students for Justice in Palestine. Would they have done things differently if they were aware of this group?
The issue that they need to think about is that the Israel Studies Project should be modified so that it treats Palestinian aspirations with the respect they deserve. A one-sided approach is not academically credible and does a disservice to all of our students.
