Daley: Wife is ‘much better’ after leg surgery
CHICAGO — Chicago Mayor Richard Daley says his wife is “feeling much better” after a recent leg operation in her ongoing fight against metastastic breast cancer.
An orthopedic oncologist performed Friday’s procedure at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago to address pain in Maggie Daley’s right leg. A titanium rod was inserted into her leg to reduce the risk of fracture.
Daley has had radiation treatment in that leg to treat a cancerous bone lesion.

All of Chicago school’s seniors are college bound
CHICAGO — A Chicago school that claims to be the nation’s first all-boys public charter high school comprised entirely of black males has accomplished an uncommon feat.
Every member of Urban Prep’s first senior class has been accepted into a four-year college or university.
Urban Prep founder and CEO Tim King said that only four percent of Urban Prep’s freshman in 2006 were reading at grade level.
Last year, the mayor’s office said the average college acceptance rate for Chicago Public Schools was just over 50 percent.
