Romantic comedies always have an amazing soundtrack. I’m not sure if it’s their way of drawing in a crowd other than women with their previews (see the Eat, Pray, Love trailer featuring “Dog Days Are Over” by Florence and the Machine), but it’s a phenomenon that I have recently realized. It was when I was watching No Strings Attached a while back and the movie closed with “Love Lost” by The Temper Trap, and I was sitting there listening and thinking how perfect that song was for that moment in the film. Then I thought about how many great songs that would be perfect in this type of movie. So, if you would like to imagine your life as a movie, try out this playlist and you can star in a romantic comedy of your very own.
1. “Give a Little Love” by Rilo Kiley
This is the beginning of the movie when both the male and female stars have yet to meet each other, an opening credits song as they both are going through their daily routines about town.
2. “The Rescue Song (RAC Remix)” by Mr. Little Jeans
Another contender for an opening track where our lead character is just waiting to be rescued from their humdrum life by that Mr. or Mrs. Right.

3. “Digital Love” by Daft Punk
This song has a fun vibe that makes it perfect for after the characters first meet. The song is all about a dream the singer has about falling in love with a girl he knows, so consider it foreshadowing.
4. “Heaven’s On Fire” by The Radio Dept
Our characters go out on a magical first date where instantly each of their heaven’s are on fire.
5. “King Of Spain” by The Tallest Man on Earth
The pair engages in a passionate dance together as the romance is thickening and they are becoming more enamored with each other.
6. “The Twist” by Frightened Rabbit
A song that’s all about twisting together in a moment with a slower beat that picks up as it goes on is perfect for our lovers first magical night together.
7. “Carries On” by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros
Just picture it now: The characters have gotten into some big fight, the girl has decided to move on, and the guy runs after her in a valiant attempt to regain her affection. The song’s build up to the chorus adds to the thrill of the moment.
8. “Love That Girl” by Raphael Saadiq
As Raphael Saadiq confesses his love in this song, you can almost see it playing out as the love-struck male character thinks about his girl.
9. “Forever And Ever Amen” by The Drums
A song about being in love forever and ever practically screams its chick flick potential, this one especially for that scene where you see the happy couple smiling and laughing together as the camera pans out and the credits start to roll.
10. “January Wedding” by The Avett Brothers
Such a sweet, soft song, ideal for the characters’ wedding, where you know a happy ending will soon follow.
11. “Love Is Alright” by Mayer Hawthorne
The movie closes as the characters ride into the sunset together, to where the viewers can only assume they live happily ever after. Obviously, the soul styling of Mayer Hawthorne with an upbeat song called “Love Is Alright,” is an ideal fit for that Hollywood ending.
