Former Illinois basketball player Jereme Richmond was arrested Aug. 8 on charges of aggravated battery, aggravated assault and unlawful use of a handgun in Waukegan, Ill.
Richmond and Matthew Riley, of North Chicago, were arrested outside of the 3000 block of Golfmoor Avenue in Waukegan. They were found in possession of a .40 caliber semiautomatic pistol, which was located in the car.
Police were called for “unwanted subjects” at the residency where Richmond, 19 and Riley, 22, were found in a confrontation with the residents, said Commander Gabe Guzman of the Waukegan police.
Richmond was also charged with domestic battery and two counts of disorderly conduct. A bond court was held Tuesday for Richmond with a bond set for $100,000. He was released on bond Friday.
After playing in 31 games his freshman season with the Illini, Richmond left the team and declared for the NBA Draft at the end of the season. Richmond was not drafted.
