The Illinois Student Senate, or ISS, is looking to approve the adoption of the Big Ten Student Fan Code at Wednesday’s meeting.
The code was drafted over the summer at the Big Ten Students Conference at Pennsylvania State University. Student body president David Pileski is in support of the adoption.
“Fostering healthy competition with respect for your competitors is one of the distinguishing features that makes the Big Ten so special,” Pileski said.
Additionally, new interns will be approved as they were chosen Sunday by an executive board meeting.
Student senator Ryan Young, junior in LAS, said he is excited for the new interns in order to begin work on committees.

“We can really get down to work on the nitty gritty more technical stuff that comes along with running a senate,” Young said.
At the Sept. 10th meeting of the ISS Pileski presented a resolution for information proposing a $1 student fee in order to raise funds for the senate, allowing them to do more projects.
Sam Barghi, ISS vice president-external, said he is in favor of the resolution.
“A one dollar per semester student fee would double our budget,” Barghi said. “It’s a scope issue.”
Barghi said the money would allow for projects such as a bike repair station. Pileski said he hopes to have the resolution approved by the end of September.
All senators will be present at the second annual meeting of the student body Thursday where students will get the chance to ask questions of top administrators and community leaders.
Barghi said this is a great opportunity for students to get to know the administrative process.
“Everyone always talks about accountability, and I think this meeting will give students that opportunity to go out speak with administrators, campus and community leaders and get a gauge of what’s going on,” he said.
