Champaign Police were dispatched to the 2300 block of Sangamon Drive for an attempted abduction at 4:28 p.m. Monday.

According to the report, police received information that a 12-year-old girl was walking home from school when an unknown male pulled up next to her in a pickup truck. The suspect offered to give the girl a ride home. The girl refused, ran away from the area and contacted police.

The girl described the suspect as a white male in his early 30s with blonde hair, wearing a red shirt and a zippered navy blue sweatshirt. His car was a single cab Chevrolet pickup truck with two-toned, red-over-white paint.
