So I had heard the warnings about living with your best friend. Still, I decided to live with three of my close friends this year, one of which I’ve known since kindergarten.
And I must say that I’m glad I went against conventional wisdom. True, I’ve only been living with them for a couple of months so far, but I’m having a blast. There is something to be said for having roommates who will watch Taylor Swift videos with you at 1 a.m.
I don’t actually see my roommates too much during the week because we are all pretty busy, but on the weekends we always find something to do. This ranges from cooking a meal and eating it together to having a movie night that consists of Amanda Bynes movies — with popcorn of course.
If I ever feel like jumping in my car and going to the mall, or anywhere else, there is always someone in my apartment who is willing to go on an adventure with me. These adventures usually include singing loudly in the car and getting food. Next week, I will be going to the Sara Bareilles concert with one of my roommates.
The biggest drawback I’ve encountered so far is that I tend to spend time talking to my roommates rather than doing my homework. Still, I’m willing to sacrifice a stellar GPA for the truly unique college experience that I’m having with my friends.
