The Christie Clinic Illinois Marathon is set for next weekend, but organizers have announced there is still a shortage of volunteers.

About 200 volunteers are still needed for the event, which runs from April 26 to 28. According to a press release from the Illinois Marathon, there is still a need for 88 “critically important” course team jobs.

“Course Team volunteers are critical to the experience these participants will have during their stay in Champaign-Urbana and they are critical to ensure everyone’s safety,” said Race Emergency Services Coordinator Scott Friedlein in the press release. “We are not asking our course team members to be traffic cops but instead to be cheerleaders who help guide the runners and keep the route safe for all.”

There are still 117 non-course team volunteer spots as well.
