When you pay for your ticket to an Illini sporting event, your money enters a fund that joins the revenue of the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics. As it so happens, ticket sales contribute only about a fifth of the total revenues for the department, but all of that money is put to work. If each ticket in Memorial Stadium were to cost the same, here’s how the University would spend the money, proportionally balanced by section of the stadium that can seat 60,670 people.
This is based on data that the University reported to the NCAA on Jan. 23, 2012, reflecting the year 2011. It does not reflect the budget in the ensuing months.
