Champaign and University police are investigating a sexual assault that occurred near Boneyard Creek on Oct. 28.
According to an advisory from the Division of Public Safety, the victim was walking in the 100 block of East Green Street and was approaching Second Street when the offender approached the victim, asking where she was going.
The victim ignored the offender and continued walking, but was dragged from behind to the north side of the apartment building at 202. E. Green St., where she was sexually assaulted.
The offender ran westbound on the sidewalk along the south side of Boneyard Creek toward First Street following the sexual assault.
The offender is described as a black male in his early 20s, with a medium complexion and very short black hair. He was wearing dark jeans and a charcoal gray hoodie and was also described as being clean-shaven and of muscular build.
