I thought it was going to be like every other show that failed before it. “V,” “FlashForward,” and “The Event” were all duds. They all lasted one or two seasons and all were trying to replicate the success and mystery of “Lost.” They all had great potential and all pretty much failed. That was one reason I was hesitant to watch the most recent show from J.J. Abrams and one about these similar topics. However, “Revolution” is easily my favorite new show this season that I cannot believe NBC is giving it a hiatus after so much success.
So far, it has done what the other three shows mentioned didn’t: have a compelling storyline that I had to come back for to keep going. I give sole credit to that fact all because of Elizabeth Mitchell and my love for “Lost.” If she wasn’t in the show, as an important and mysterious clue to the puzzle, who knows if I would still be watching; but I am. I can’t deny either that Billy Burke, who most of you know as Charlie from the “Twilight” series, is pretty great to watch. I enjoyed his work starting with his stint on season 2 of “24.”
So, with a week break on the horizon, if there is a show you want to start watching, with all the episodes on Hulu, then this is my top choice. It has most everything you could want, and though it might struggle at times, there will be one little thing that will keep you going. And if you keep going, you will be rewarded, I promise.
A hot topic I must talk about in this week’s edition is what happened on “Parks and Recreation” two weeks ago—it was magical. I suppose I should say spoiler alert! But I don’t think I really want to talk about specifics other than the fact that I will watch the final scene of that episode on repeat. Other hot topics include that interrogation scene between Carrie and Brody on “Homeland” last week. Basically, if you want to be an actor, watch these 15 minutes, because it is a free acting lesson. Also, if you fill out your Emmy ballot next year, watch this scene before picking against Claire Danes and Damian Lewis, just saying.
Things that I am looking forward to this week include the return of “Glee.” Surprisingly, I have noticed the absence of the show and am very much excited to see it back on air. The show, in its fourth season, left us on kind of a cliffhanger, as most of the couples have broken up. Supposedly, there will be a “Grease” themed episode and Finn will be filling in the shoes for Will as he travels to D.C. for a few weeks. Let’s hope the hiatus didn’t kick down the momentum the show gained in its most recent episode.
