Shots fired at approximately 3:16 a.m. on Sunday led to the pursuit and arrest of a suspect by Champaign Police near the area of W. Green Street and S. Prospect Ave., according to a press release.

Police officers were patrolling the area when they heard multiple shots fired and saw the suspect, Rynell W. Frazier, 24, fleeing from the 500 block of Highland. Officers pursued the suspect on foot, who resisted arrest, until they were able to arrest the suspect at the 500 block of Willis. According to the press release, a search of Frazier yielded 4.4 grams of suspected marijuana. The police officers also found a gun outside of the private home to which Frazier fled during the foot pursuit.

Frazier was arrested on charges of Resisting a Police Officer, Unlawful Use of Weapons and Unlawful Possession or Use of a Weapon by a Felon.

Both the suspect and one of the involved officers sustained minor injuries during the pursuit. Frazier was treated at Carle Hospital and later transferred to Champaign County Jail.
