Members of the Graduate Employees’ Organization voted by more than 95 percent to ratify a new contract that will protect tuition waivers at their current levels for all members of the bargaining unit.
The term of the new contract is five years, and during that time, the minimum wage will increase 2.5 percent during the first two years and 1.5 percent for the next three years, according to a press release.
The annual raise for the entire bargaining unit will be 2.5 percent for the first year of the contract, then the Campus Wage Program will set the raise each year thereafter.
The administration will also pay 80 percent of the annual percentage of members’ health care fee, an increase from the 75 percent paid for in the previous contract.
Other changes to the contract include the ability to file a grievance in the case of supervisor harassment, the requirement to provide accommodations for nursing mothers and providing time off for members of Civil Unions in the event of the death of a member’s partner.
