The Champaign Fire Department is investigating a fire that heavily damaged a home and garage on Victor Street early Tuesday morning.
Firefighters were called to the scene at 4:14 a.m. and the fire was extinguished at 6:20 a.m.
The fire originated in the garage shared by 1701 W. Church St., a rental home, and 205 N. Victor St., a vacant two-story home, according to a press released from CFD. The cause of the fire is still unknown.

Two injuries were sustained by CFD personnel. Additional manpower was called to the scene because of the cold weather and the complexity of the situation.
Residents who were evacuated from the rental home have returned to the house.
