Champaign police are searching for a suspect in connection to a robbery at Regions Bank, 111 S. State St., that occurred Friday morning.
According to a press release, witnesses saw a man enter the ban and demand money. Witnesses did not see a gun being displayed, though the suspect implied having one. He fled the scene on foot after being given an undisclosed amount of cash. He was last seen heading north toward University Avenue.
Several employees and customers were inside the bank at the time of the robbery. No injuries have been reported.
The suspect is described as a 22 to 23-year-old black male, standing 5-foot-5 to 5-foot-6 and carrying a black book bag. He was wearing a blue shirt, khaki pants or jeans and black gym shoes. He also wore a black head band and black hood. The suspect covered the lower part of his face to disguise himself during the robbery.
