Update: As of Friday, the University has been taken off of all blacklists, according to a mass mail sent to students.
Starting Monday, CITES will block certain file types from being sent and received as email attachments as part of its continued efforts to protect the University from phishing emails and malware.
When an attachment is blocked, a text file will be attached to the email notifying the recipient that an attachment has been removed.
The file type that may cause the most impact are .zip files. Common formats of documents, spreadsheets, PDFs and graphic files will not be filtered.
The file sharing service Box can be used to send and receive files that are being filtered.
