The increase in craft fairs, musicals, art exhibits, vocal performances and estrogen on campus can mean only one thing: Mothers are flooding into Champaign-Urbana for the 93rd annual Moms Weekend.
Since its creation in 1921, Moms Weekend has inspired other colleges to follow in the University of Illinois’ footsteps and create an honorary day for mothers.
Today, Moms Weekend brings thousands of families to campus, but the event had humble beginnings. Although Moms Weekend has matured, many of the activities and sentiments associated with the event remain the same. So, between brunch, campus tours, plays and craft fairs, remember that no matter how old you get, you’ll never outgrow your mom.
