In order to perform ground testing in Parking Lot J, at the corner of Sixth and Green streets, parking availability may be reduced due to work and large equipment in the parking lot.

Testing will start on April 29 and last around two weeks, according to a press release from the City of Champaign. The lot will remain open during the testing.

Caution should be used when parking in the lot because of the increased construction personal and equipment, according to the press release.

The Champaign City Council approved plans for the Parking Lot J development on April 9. Construction of the two-tower 12-story hotel and apartment complex, which will be built in the parking lot’s current location, will begin in fall 2013.
