Well, to say the least, I attempted to major in just about everything up until the end of my sophomore year. I found myself pursuing marketing, finance, advertising and an abundance of other disciplines. I had somewhat of an idea of where I wanted to go in terms of my degree, but nothing seemed to be the perfect fit for me. One thing was for certain; I knew for a fact that I did not want to sit through another accounting class ever again.
Now, before I begin, there are a few things you should know about me. I am an unusual being; I’m constantly pursuing an intelligent conversation and looking for the world’s best cup of coffee. Recently, I have spent a lot of time working on an array of small projects, ranging from short films to a not-for-profit establishment using creativity and expression to impact the lives of — hopefully — many. I love photography and it allows me to explore the digital world, by turning the shutter into a frame. To be completely honest, my curiosity and wanderlust is what keeps my brain tinkering and feet moving.
My concept of who I want to be has changed countless times. However, through all my trials and errors, major changing and soul searching, I have realized the love I have for this world and storytelling. The simple ability to articulate every single thing that is going through my head is what I crave.
At the end of my sophomore year, I found myself lost yet again. I sat with countless advisers, friends and professors until I finally discovered that there was a way for me to combine my passion for culture, desire to travel and dash of arts in one major. I decided to major in global studies with a concentration in media and film and also get a certificate in international business.
For a lot of people my major wouldn’t be something that they would find particularly interesting, but it is perfect for me. I get the chance to travel abroad, I am introduced to classes that cater to my own personal interests, and the best part about it is that it all counts toward my degree.
