Urbana Police are investigating an overnight shooting that left one person with a graze wound.
About 12:25 a.m., officers were called near the area of 400 Burkwood Court West after receiving multiple calls that shots were fired. They found three women who had been shot at; a 26-year-old Champaign resident was struck in the head, which left a graze wound. She was transported to Carle Foundation Hospital and is expected to survive.
The other two women were not injured.
According to Urbana Police’s Criminal Investigation Division, an unknown number of offenders got out of a car that was behind a victim’s car, which had stopped near the intersection of Race Street and Montclair Road. Shots were fired at the car, which was also struck.
The victims were eastbound until they came to a dead end, which at that point they began knocking on nearby doors for help. Police and ambulances responded shortly after.
