Willard Airport will be getting improvements, thanks to $841,000 the state pledged for the facility through the Illinois Jobs Now! project.
Gov. Pat Quinn announced the improvements Thursday. According to a press release, the funds will be used for road and parking lot work.
“Investments in airports like this one in Champaign make them more efficient and safer while creating construction jobs,” Quinn said in a press release. “This Illinois Jobs Now! project will continue to ensure that Illinois has a strong, 21st century infrastructure.”
Illinois Jobs Now! is a six-year, $31 billion project and is the largest in the history of Illinois. It is supposed to create 439,000 jobs and update the state’s infrastructure.
Cross Construction of Urbana will complete the construction, and the Illinois Department of Transportation Division of Aeronautics will oversee the project.
