Next year’s Commencement ceremony will be held outdoors at Memorial Stadium, as expected, the University announced Thursday.
The campuswide event will take place from 9:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 17. It will be a combined ceremony, unlike in previous years when it was split into two Sunday sessions at then-called Assembly Hall due to seating.
Graduates and other participants will be seated on the field and on a stage, while attendees will be on the west bleachers.
The University moved Commencement for this upcoming year due to extensive renovation at State Farm Center. Laura Wilhelm-Barr, the director of special events, said in a press release that renovation will likely affect the 2015 ceremonies as well.
Officials say the ceremony will take place regardless of weather conditions, unless it becomes dangerous.
