A 23-year-old male was shot in the 500 block of East Beardsley Avenue Wednesday night, according to Champaign Police spokeswoman Rene Dunn. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital, and his condition was not released.

The Champaign Police Department responded to a call regarding the shooting at around 11:40 p.m. Wednesday. According to a press release from the Champaign Police Department, the man was walking in the area of Douglass Park when he was shot.
