Crews respond to late night fire on John Street

The Champaign Fire Department responded to a fire in an apartment building at 207 E. John St. at around midnight Monday night.
The fire was located in a storage room in a parking garage at the apartment building, according to Champaign Fire Marshal John Koller.
The building was evacuated, and the fire was put out in about 20 minutes.There were no reported injuries, and no residents were displaced after the incident. The only damage was to the contents of the storage room and the structure was not affected, Koller said.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
