Illinois State Police, assisted by the Champaign Police Department, conducted an Alcohol Countermeasure Enforcement detail during the daytime and evening hours of March 7 during Unofficial St. Patrick’s Day celebrations.

This detail encompassed sweeps of various bar locations, private parties and street sweeps.

A total of 62 citations were issued by the ISP. Of these citations, 31 were for possession or purchase of alcohol by a minor, 24 for possession of alcohol on public property, three for adult responsibility, one for public urination, one for carrying open liquor off premises, one for unlawful use of ID and one for sound amplification systems.

The ACE program’s purpose is to reduce and deter underage drinking in Illinois.
