During the late evening of April 5, Illinois State Police, along with the Champaign Police Department, conducted a covert bar check for underage drinkers as part of a regularly occurring Alcohol Countermeasure Enforcement patrol.

That night, the police agencies issued a total of 45 citations. Of them, 12 were issued at Joe’s Brewery, 10 were issued at KAM’S, nine at Red Lion, eight at The Clybourne’s, five at It’s Brother’s and one at Whitehorse Inn.

The citations were issued for possession or purchase of alcohol by a minor, unlawful use of ID and presence of a minor in a liquor establishment.

The goal of the ACE program is to reduce and prevent underage drinking in Illinois, police say.
