The Illinois State Police are investigating a rollover at the intersection of Interstates 57 and 72 that occurred around 1:30 p.m. Thursday.

The 60-year-old driver, Francisco Zamora, was driving a semi-truck on the ramp from eastbound I-72 to I-57 southbound, according to a press release from the Illinois State Police.

Zamora said he took the ramp too quickly, and when he tried to slow down his load shifted, causing his truck-tractor semi-trailer to flip into the grassy median, according to the release.

The semi is not blocking the roadway at this time. Zamora was given a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid accident and was transported to an area hospital.
