Featured Show: Mother Nature @ The Accord
March 30, 2016
If you live in Champaign-Urbana and have any interest in hip-hop or the local music scene in general, you’ll understand the importance of Friday’s EP release show for T.R.U.T.H. and Klevah’s collaborative project Mother Nature MG. Mother Nature first started making waves in the area last September when they played before Run The Jewels at The Pygmalion Festival MG, delivering one of the standout performances of the weekend and winning over the hearts and minds of C-U music fans.
The duo recently signed to Champaign-Urbana label Heirship Records to release their new EP MG. Individually, these two have already carved out reputations at the top tier of local rap artists. T.R.U.T.H’s “EVE EP” was selected at number seven in buzz‘s Best Local Releases of 2015MG, while Klevah has gained momentum with solid and surprising releases like “Golden” and “GLDN EP.” Together, though, they have an undeniable chemistry and energy. Fresh off of the release of their recent music video for “Afro,” MG showgoers can expect Mother Nature to bring their astute and direct lyrical play coupled with an electric live energy throughout their performance.
Among the supporting artists is BOYCUT, whose EP “Alien” MG landed the number five spot on buzz‘s Best Local Releases of 2015 list and proved to be one of the most popular and unique local releases in 2015, with not only great songwriting, but also a level of production rivaled by very few in the area. The duo match clever lyrics and beautiful vocal melodies with catchy and interesting synths. Also joining Boycut and Mother Nature on stage will be local five-piece funk rock band Abnormous and local hip-hop artists JEFF da MC and Gr8SKY.MG
