Champaign

Theft over $500 was reported in the 300 block of East Springfield Avenue around midnight Friday. According to the report, the victim’s cell phone was stolen from the apartment complex’s mailroom.

An arrest was made on the charges of possession of controlled substance, controlled substance look-alike, driving under revoked license, operating an uninsured vehicle, expired registration an impounded vehicle, on the corner of Harris and Alabama avenues around 8:30 p.m. Thursday. According to the report, the suspect was arrested for the controlled substances after a traffic stop.

An arrest was made on the charges of retail theft and resisting or obstructing a police officer at Walmart, 2610 N. Prospect Ave., around 1:30 p.m. Thursday. According to the report, the suspect walked beyond all points of purchase with merchandise she did not pay for. When placed in handcuffs, the suspect resisted the officers.

University

Theft was reported at Altgeld Hall, 1409 W. Green St., around 8 p.m. Wednesday. According to the report, the victim’s bicycle, with an estimated value of $300, was stolen even though it was locked to a rack.

Theft was reported at Newman Hall, 604 E. Armory Ave., sometime between April 26 and Thursday. According to the report the bicycle with an estimated value of $275 was stolen from a bike rack.

Urbana

An arrest was made on the charges of fleeing or attempt to elude police, driving under a revoked license and illegal transportation of liquor, on the corner of East Main and Maple streets, around 1 a.m. Sunday. According to the report, an officer attempted to stop the suspect’s vehicle, which looked suspicious. The suspect refused to stop until he pulled into a parking lot with no other exits. The suspect was driving under a revoked license and open alcohol was found in his car.  

Domestic battery was reported on the corner of Romine and Beardsley streets around 8:30 p.m. Saturday. According to the report, the offender and victim are siblings and got into an argument on a public roadway. The offender battered the victim.
