Everyone loves a good burger. They’re a simple delicacy, and made correctly, they can be so delicious. With so many places around C-U that burgers, from fast food chains to local favorites, the competition for C-U’s Best Burger was high. Though there were several strong contenders, the people of C-U have spoken, and local gem Farren’s has taken the spot of Best Burger.

Farren’s Pub & Eatery is located in downtown Champaign at 117 N. Walnut St. and is currently open for indoor seating (masks required, of course) and curbside pick up. Though only moving to the Walnut Street location in 2019, which allowed for more space and seating, Farren’s has already proved to be a staple of the local dining scene. The interior is casual but welcoming — the perfect mood for a burger joint. Even if you’re not in the mood for a full meal, Farren’s can be a place to grab a couple of appetizers and catch up with some friends.

Besides the beloved burgers, Farren’s also serves a variety of salads with house made dressing and appetizers like fried cauliflower and fresh fried truffle potato chips. So, even if you’re not the biggest burger fan or just a picky eater, you can still tag along with friends and should be able to find something you like. For anyone who’s avoiding meat, you can also replace the burger with a black bean burger instead.

And if you have a sweet tooth, Farren’s also offers unique dessert options like frosted spice cake, bourbon butter cake and flourless chocolate cake (for all you gluten-free folks).
