Champaign municipal election results made official

After a two-week certification process, Champaign County Clerk Aaron Ammons posted the official results of the April 4 general municipal election to Facebook on Tuesday evening.
According to the post, the results will now be sent to the State Board of Elections as part of the election’s final canvass.
Out of 136,443 registered voters, 19,187 cast ballots in this election, which equates to a 14% voter turnout.
Unit 4 School Board race
Four school board members have been elected in this race.

Unit 4 School Board candidate Betsy Holder received 6,713 votes or 18% of the vote. Amy Armstrong received 6,438 or 18% of the vote, Jamar Brown received 6,263 or 17%, Mark Thies received 4,845 or 13%, Albert Zwettler received 4,679 or 12.7%, Jefferey Brownfield received 4,493 or 12.2% and Mark Holm received 3,331 or 9% of the vote.
According to these results, Holder, Armstrong, Brown and Thies have been elected to the school board.
City Council race
Three at-large city council members can be elected in this race.
City council candidate Matthew Gladney received 5,297 votes or 27% of the vote. Kathy Shannon received 5,264 or 27%, William Kyles II received 4,454 or 23% of the vote and Greg Stock received 4,391 or 22.6% of the vote.
According to these results, Gladney, Shannon and Kyles have been elected to the Champaign city council.
Mayoral race
Incumbent Deborah Frank Feinen received 6,227 votes or 74% of the vote. Challengers Don Gerard and Azark David Cobbs received 1,601 and 547 respectively.
According to these results, Feinen has been re-elected to another term as mayor of Champaign.
